Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Welding and Fabrication
This apprenticeship is designed for employers wanting to develop their workforce in the arena of welding and fabrication.
A welding and fabrication apprentice will cut, shape and join sections of metal. They will develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to work as a professional and competent fabricator and welder.
The normal duration for completion is 2 years for an intermediate apprenticeship, unless individual circumstances (such as significant prior learning) enable the learner to make exceptional progress and complete within this time. The course has to last a minimum of 12 months.
Training and support
A welding and fabrication apprentice will need to attend the Academy one day a week to complete the relevant learning for successful completion of the ‘technical certificate’. The rest of the training will take place in the workplace by the employer. The apprentice will be assigned an Apprentice Co-ordinator who will visit every 6-10 weeks to ensure the apprentice and the employer are happy with progress and achievement.
All intermediate apprentices will need to attain a Level 1 Functional Skill qualification in English, Mathematics and ICT. In addition we encourage all learners to attain a level 2 qualification.
