It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that rates of pay for their apprentice/s meet the national guidelines in line with their age. We can provide advice on this. For many apprentices aged between 16 to 19 years, their education is fully funded by the government. Apprentices over 19 years are still entitled to funding, but at reduced rates. In most circumstances there is no cost to the employer other than the apprentice’s wage and any equipment needed in the workplace to support the apprenticeship.
