Job title:
Apprentice Fabricator/Welder (Level 2)


Vacancy description:
The successful applicant will be working in a small but busy structural fabrication workshop alongside fully qualified fabricator/welders. During your apprenticeship period you will be learning how to work from engineering drawings to fabricate individual structural pieces of various sizes.


Qualifications required:
GCSE Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science

Training offered:

The apprentice will be in instructed in the use of static cutting machine(bandsaws), the use of flame cutting equipment, grinding and milling machines. Tuition in welding using MIG welding plant will also be given. Two days per week will be spent at The JCB Academy.


Skills required:

  • Be able to understand CAD drawings
  • Have attention to detail
  • Be punctual
  • Prepared to become part of a team but have the ability to work without supervision
  • Have good physical fitness. The work can be demanding, physically and mentally
  • It would be advantageous to live in or near Newcastle under Lyme

It is anticipated that the applicant will reach a standard in welding where they will be able to complete an external welding test to BS EN ISO 9606 coded welding. Initially working in a team, the apprentice will ultimately be responsible for their own projects.

Vacancy description:
We have an opening for an engineering apprentice within our manufacturing division. Mentored placements are available in the following areas; process planning, engineering design, problem solving and quality assurance.


Duties Include:

  • Operating, setting and programming automated turning machines – manufacturing and processing parts
  • Material Handling
  • Tool management- manufacturing, constructing, inspecting, commissioning and repairing cutting tools
  • Maintenance
  • Working to health and safety regulations
  • Quality Assurance
  • To ensure all product and administration disciplines are met, in line with Quality Standard requirements
  • Applying the principles of lean manufacturing

Qualifications required:
A Level, at Grade A* to C including English, maths and science

You’ll be analytical, methodical and good at solving problems, as well as articulate, driven and a fast learner.
